Smart and Sexy: 7 Styling Tips for Her Professional Look

February 22, 2021

More often than not, media portray women either as smart or sexy, a saint or a sinner—never the same. With today’s age of struggle for women empowerment and equality, women are bolder and more fearless as they take up spaces that are gatekept from them. More women of today are becoming more successful with their careers. They are more seen and commended primarily because of their capabilities. Unlike before, their gender no longer hinders them from competing in spaces that are usually dominated by men. However, we still have a long way to go and the fight is still on. If you are one of those women who also want to don that cosmopolitan, career woman and look daring at the same time, this article is for you. Let’s get started!

1. Wear an elegant watch

For the longest time, luxury watches were status symbols for men. Men who wear luxury watches usually stand out. This is because having a luxury watch means that you are an important person. Wearing a luxury watch means that you are a successful person who has already made it through enough to afford an expensive watch.  If you intend to command respect and mark your social standing, wearing a luxury watch will be the best way to do so. This is best usually during meetings, important project proposals, and others. The best watches that you can choose from are Rolex, Omega, Cartier, and more. Rolex has this elegant timepiece called Cosmograph Daytona. Both celebrities and office women love this model.

2. Express yourself

When dressing up for the office, there is a need to look smart like wearing modest clothes that cover you up a bit. There are guidelines for office outfits but beyond this, you have free reign for choosing your clothes and express yourself. Either you love wearing spring-colored clothes or neutral colors, it is up to you. You can also choose to wear loud-colored clothes. Just make sure that you balance it out with your other clothing. If you want to wear bold lipstick, opt to have more natural-looking makeup. The rule of thumb is to have balance and moderation. Balance loud colors or accents with neutral ones.

How to know your style?

Expressing yourself and choosing the right clothing that you want can be vague. If you have a lot of choices to wear, you will be confused as to how you can balance your outfit out. The technique to getting to know your real style is to take out your favorite clothes and lay it all out for you to see. These will be the clothes that you wear almost every day. Now, look for similarities with its patterns, colors, and cuts. From here, you can now tell if you are more into minimalistic clothing, bohemian, or classic ones.

3. Quality over quantity

Another common misconception people would have when looking for office clothes is to purchase as many outfits as possible. Some people would choose to buy cheap office clothes but in multiple pieces. If you think that you are being economical this way, you are wrong. When it comes to office clothes, choose quality over buying lots at a cheap price. You can wear good quality clothes over and over without them wearing down. When shopping for the right clothes, look closely at the kind of fabric used, the craftsmanship, etc. Go out of your way to seek a tailor for you to have the perfect fit. Invest in dry cleaners and velvet hangers, too!

4. Go neutral

We all have our slow and dull days. During the times when you do not know what to wear, choose neutral colors instead! You can never go wrong with neutral colors. Prints and patterns can also achieve the kind of look you are going for, but these are not usually that easy to wear. Styling with neutral colors is easier than those with prints and patterns. Try going for cream, beige, white, black, gray, or navy blue. If you want to be more playful, choose statement colors that are almost within the same color palette as neutral colors. These colors are rust, mustard, old rose, army green, maroon, and so on. You can add small accents that will make these neutral colors pop.

5. Get the perfect fit

We mentioned a thing or two about seeking a tailor and make some alterations. When some of us shop for office clothes, we tend to choose the cheapest outfit, even if the fitting is a bit awkward. Some of us would also choose one that we like even if it is not our size. Let us put things into perspective. The key to staying sexy in your office clothes which tend to bundle us up is to get the perfect fit that will highlight our curves. On top of getting the office clothing with the best quality, going out of your way to see a tailor and make a few alterations will bring out the wonderful curves of your body. Who says dressing smart is dull and boring?

6. Do not show too much skin

This is one of the reasons why you will rely on seeking a tailor for your office outfit. Whenever we go to parties or clubs, being sexy can also mean bearing almost all of it and showing some skin. In the office, it is tricky to stay sexy because showing too much skin will make a bad image of your attire.

7. Do not overdo it

It is important to not do your makeup like you would when you will go out with your friends at night. Keep your look natural and use your makeup to enhance your natural features. Take it easy on the accessories, too. This is why a watch is the best accessory that you can wear in the office.

Confidence is key

Now that you know some of the tips for looking smart and sexy at the same time, it is now up to you to get up and start seizing the day with your dashing yet sophisticated look. Remember, confidence will be your most trusted ally in sealing that deal you are closing—both professionally and romantically.
