The Prospector Motel is a long-running independent property on the north end of Durango — close enough to downtown for a walk to dinner, far enough from the freeway noise that guests actually sleep. The owners wanted the new site to lean into the property's mining-town history without becoming a kitsch museum piece, and to drop the hodgepodge of Wix templates and third-party booking widgets that had accumulated over the years. We delivered both.
The redesign anchors itself in archival photography from Durango's mining era, paired with modern shots of the renovated rooms. The home page opens with a single, well-lit photograph of the property's vintage sign at dusk, then transitions into the practical: room types, nightly rates, and a reservation request form that lands directly in the front desk's inbox without an integration middleman. Returning guests can pull up their previous booking by phone number — a small touch the front desk specifically requested.
For discovery in search we added LodgingBusiness markup, mapped the Google Business Profile to a steady Q&A cadence, and rewrote room descriptions around the practical signals Highway 550 travelers actually scan — pet policy, ground-floor availability, truck-and-trailer parking, EV charging within walking distance. We also wrote landing pages aimed at the property's three durable audience segments: railroad tourists on the Durango & Silverton schedule, Mesa Verde day-trippers, and locals booking a room for visiting family.
The Prospector's edge is that the owners are still on-site every day. We made sure that voice — friendly, plain-spoken, slightly wry — comes through on every page. The result is a motel website that feels like the motel: familiar, well-kept, and worth coming back to.
